Jacqueline Fernandez hails from Manama in Bahrain. She was raised within an ethnically diverse family. Her father Elroy is a Sri Lankan (Catholic Sinhalese) and her mother, Kim is Malaysian. There are two brothers as well as one older sister. It was because of the civil war in Lanka that her parents chose to move to Bahrain. After finishing high school in Bahrain she was awarded a Scholarship at University of Sydney to pursue a Media and Communications Degree in Sydney, Australia. As a lover of all cultures and languages she also was a part of the Berlitz school of languages in which she was able to learn Spanish as well as improve her French and Arabic. In addition, she was crowned Miss Sri Lanka 2006 for Miss Universe 2006 on March 6th, 2006 and also competed at Miss Universe 2006. In 2006, she took home her the Miss Sri Lanka title. After that, she went on television as a host of a program on Sri Lankan companies called Lanka Business Report. Padukone has a daughter with the famous badminton player Prakash Padukone. She was brought up in Bangalore and was born in Copenhagen. When she was in her teens she played in badminton championships at national levels. However, she left the sport in order to pursue a career as designer. Padukone has Mangalorean roots and speaks Konkani as her mother tongue. Her family tree is rooted in Padukone village located in Kundapura Taluk in the Udupi District in the state of Karnataka, India. Prakash Padukone has retired as a world-renowned athlete in badminton Her mother, on the other hand, also works as a travel advisor.
